JD Metalworks Capabilities - How We Work

JD Metalworks has the capabilities and equipment to provide full service manufacturing and assembly of metal products. From soft metals such as aluminum and bronze, to high strength tread plate and abrasive resistant plate, we can handle just about anything. We offer 3-D design with Solidworks software capable of simulation analysis, and analysis of material strengths and applications. We also use AutoCAD software capable of 2-D and 3-D applications.

Our building is 80,000 square feet, with 30 overhead cranes which have capacities up to 7.5 tons to quickly and efficiently move material and products as needed. Thirty one manual welding stations are available for steel and stainless steel. We have 3 aluminum MIG welding stations each of which has a push-pull Aluminum torch for increased weld quality. Additionally, we have 5 TIG welding stations. We also have AWS certified welders on staff. Custom fixtures for in-house use improve repeatability and quality.

Our machining department houses 2 vertical machining centers with a maximum work envelope as follows: (x-axis up to 120’’, y-axis up to 32’’, z-axis up to 24’’), one has a 20 capacity tool holder; the other has a 30 capacity tool holder. We also have one horizontal machining center with a maximum work envelope as follows: (x-axis up to 26’’, y-axis up to 26’’, z-axis up to 26’’, 4th axis capable) and an 18 inch pallet chamber. Our manual machine inventory includes a lathe, 3 rack mills, a Bridgeport and a Bridge-type planer with a 25.5’’ x 96’’ magnetic chuck.

Our fabrication department boasts a Cincinnati Shear (capacity .38’’ x 12’ plate) and 2 iron workers with capacities of up to 110 ton. We also have a brake press with 230 ton capacity which can handle material up to 16’ long, and a 2’’ roll form for smaller rolled projects. Two saws make quick work of larger material; each has a maximum work envelope of 20’’H x 31’’W x 40’L, one saw is a CNC with 30 degree angle cutting capabilities. We offer CNC plasma and flame cutting in house with a 10’W x 20’L table capacity. A vibratory deburring machine puts a nice finish on cut parts. Our 3 drills have 3 radial arms each and one boasts a 5’ arm and 17’’ column. We have a Landis threader and a rigid pipe threader also. JD Metalworks also houses two paint booths 14’W x 20’L x 12’T each.

Hydraulic and electrical assembly and testing is another specialty at JD Metalworks. We can take your assembly from raw metal to finished product all in-house. Each hydraulic assembly is wired for individual electrical requirements. Single phase electrical capabilities include 110V and 240V. We can also accommodate 3-Phase capabilities in 208V, 240V, 440-480V and 575V.
